Flower Commission
The first painting I did when I arrived to Utah was this flower painting. I did another version that turned out terribly, but this one was a winner. These flowers were a special request to paint some old dead engagement flowers. I love these.
Bike in Italy

I wanted to do this copy of a painting with a bike in it. At this point in the painting, I'm struggling with the orange color. It's too strong and cheap looking, and then the blue is too strong on the other way. The texture of the wall also greatly contrasts with the doorway.
My dear friend Karina is the owner of this bike.

30x40 commission of a farm in Utah
A few months a dear friend from Utah approached me about doing a painting of her husband's family farm. It was 30X40 and took me all month. It was a great experience. I documented the progress for fun and for the family.
Here is the study before I actually started the painting. This is like my practice piece where you sort out composition problems.
Here it is in monochromatic phase. I really love the way paintings look at this phase and have a hard time painting over it.
Starting to lay in color.
Here is the final.

Red Flowers Study
Here is a red flower study based on a painting I love. (Erin McGregory). These were a gift for a woman who had surgery recently at my church.

Red Barn 16X20 Painting
I did this red barn painting to make something with a lot of texture. It would be a really nice painting to put in a hallway with a collage. It would blend in and add a pop, but not be so overwhelming with subject matter and detail.

Getting the right proportions on the barn took a few tries. You can see that it was different each time. Finally got it right at the end.

Watercolors in Utah
I didn't think that I would paint while I was in Utah, but I saw that I would have enough free time and that it would be worth my time. I bought a watercolor set and some paper. I did some things that I'm really pleased with. Some fruit and wedding flowers. One of my favorite things about the paintings is that I scanned the flowers and printed them to make some custom cards. They are fancy and adorable.

Raleigh, NC Temple
8X10
This was for a wedding. I was really shocked as I went to the reception and the painting was there and on display. When you see your artwork on display, it's like getting a pat on the back. Very flattering. It must mean something.
I was happy with this piece. The gray buildings are sort of hard for me to figure out sometimes. I have been working on a commission of a gray stone tower and it's just tricky to get it right.
