Although I always loved drawing and painting as a child, I seemed to lose focus in art in adolescence. In high school at age 16 I took an art fundamentals class so that I could take photography, but I noticed I was much better at drawing and painting than those around me and rediscovered I had a talent in art. I continued taking art classes in high school and by my Senior Year I was awarded Art Sterling Scholar of East High School in Salt Lake City, UT. At BYU, I studied English teaching, but still took a few drawing classes and a couple of elective painting classes. I never actually did get a BFA, but those drawing classes have been vital to my ability to paint today.
I took a break from art for a few years while having my first two children. In 2015 after having my third child, I started painting again to battle stress in my life and to make gifts for my friends. Somehow I craved time to paint, and now I'm working to paint a little every day. Since then I have regularly done commissions and sold art. Now I have 4 kids and squeeze in some painting time here and there.
