Happy Mom

The other day Wayne drew this picture of me and Russell.  I just love that I have a big smile on my face.  I've had a really busy hard month with preschool starting out and everything, so it was sweet to see that I've been a nice happy mom to my kids.  It was a good report.

Abstract SLC temple

I thought this one would be a fun experiment.  Cute for  kids room or something.  I really like it.

My mother's art

My mother was an artist.  She didn't do a lot of art when I was a teenager, but I think she had a phase and some equipment.  She was really into quilting when I was in high school.  Although we did take a watercolor class together when I was 18.  That was neat.

But she had done stain glass classes, calligraphy, sewing, and she painted at some point.  I found these painting books one time in her art stuff, and it was like discovering a piece to the puzzle. She had done a few of these paintings, and my siblings and I all have some of these paintings.  It was kind of cool to see what she copied and where she got it.  I threw away some of the junk, but that's ok!  We can't save everything.

Orange Flowers - Glass Vase

This was an attempt to practice doing a whole composition by myself.  Everything was 100% original.  I took the picture, I made color choices for painting, background, etc.  It wasn't too bad for practicing acrylics.

Ecuador Temple

This is a commission I recently did of the Ecuador temple.  She wanted the palm trees emphasized.  I went a little crazy on the trees, and then had to change them back to grass. Haha.

We didn't have a great picture to work with, but I think we got it.  She loved it.  It's for her kids' rooms.

10X13 Custom Painting

I did a painting of the Raleigh temple for a woman in my ward.  It turned out great, and surprisingly looked super similar to another painting of did of the temple from the same angle. It looked great.  I'm going to scan it and make a print to sell on my etsy shop.
