30x40 commission of a farm in Utah

A few months a dear friend from Utah approached me about doing a painting of her husband's family farm.  It was 30X40 and took me all month. It was a great experience.  I documented the progress for fun and for the family.

Here is the study before I actually started the painting.  This is like my practice piece where you sort out composition problems.

Day one on the big 30X40.  Graphing it out.

Here it is in monochromatic phase.  I really love the way paintings look at this phase and have a hard time painting over it.

Starting to lay in color.

This tree on the right of the paining went through many phases.  Big, different colors, and finally at the end I just made it smaller.

Here is the final.
